The e-Portfolio

The new National Framework will include a digital record of learning, captured in an e-portfolio. The e-portfolio will provide a single point of record of the training terms and assessments the junior doctor has undertaken, accessible by the junior doctor, supervisors, Directors of Training (DoTs)/ Directors of Prevocational Education and Training (DPETs), and the Postgraduate Medical Council.

What will the e-portfolio include?

The e-portfolio is currently at the design stage, but will include the following components:

Access to training and assessment material

An overview of training requirements

Training term assessments, including the Prevocational Outcome Statements

Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs)

Record of all the junior doctor’s assessments

Record of longitudinal achievement/progress against the outcome statements and EPAs.

Ability to record any additional education training the junior doctor undertakes during the prevocational training years (e.g., basic life support)

Record of procedures performed (noting this is for records only, there are no mandatory procedures that must be completed during the prevocaitonal training years)

Record of the junior doctors’ career and learning goals and personal reflections
